SAT Subject Tests can be divided into 5 general categories. Each subject tests
your knowledge in that specific area and your capability to apply what you’ve
learned. The test content is independent from any textbook on that particular
subject; however, it is designed to reflect a general mastery of that
distinctive topic.
Universities often use the subject tests as an entrance requirement; at the same
time, it can also be used for class placement. Some colleges will specify which
subjects you are allowed to take while others allow you to make the choice.
